Sugarcoated: Sweet Coats for a Chilly Winter

Jan01

I remember last winter, cropped coats were everywhere, and I shuffled through the bitter chill in my long coat. I refused to buy a new shorter coat since mine was warm, however. Then, mine was 'accidentally' thrown into the wash and, long story short, it's now a cropped coat.

Bottom line is this: long overcoats are back as evidenced by celebs like Halle Berry and Stella McCartney:

To face the colder months ahead, I'm weighing my options for a heavy coat. Here are a few of my faves:

French Connection, $300

Banana Republic, $211

J.Crew, $150

10 Second Wardrobe Makeover: Your Average Pantsuit

Jul14

Hey, reLYME!

At my new, corporate job, it's pretty much expected that I wear pantsuits, or ultra-corporate attire. My day-to-day look consists of black or gray pants, and a black or gray blazer. Every once in a while, I'll wear a colorful shirt underneath. Aside from that, how can I add some more fun to my office look without looking office inappropriate?

Sincerely,
Bored in the Office Jungle

Dear Bored in the Office Jungle,

Boy, do I hear you on this one. I faced this same dilemma in a past job. I tried experimenting with my look a bit, until I realized that it only takes about one addition to your ensemble to make you stand out in your cubicle. (Plus, too many trend infusions might look unprofessional!) Here's what I suggest:

1) Try adding some zest to your feet with these saffron Julia Drivers from Elie Tahari.

-or-
2) Incorporate some blue hues with this tiered turquoise stone bib necklace from Banana Republic.
