A friend of mine recently became engaged, sans ring, and mentioned their expeditions in ring shopping. For the life of her, she couldn't find anything she felt to be beautiful, but diamondless.

Diamonds have lost some street cred within the last couple of years, especially after the release of Blood Diamond. (Personally, I was relieved that someone finally said something!) But, you don't have to feel guilty about toting a big diamond around on your finger. If shopping for engagement rings is in your future, there are some other options for you besides the diamond. Moissanite

Created in a lab, the moissanite has similar chemical properties to a diamond. Moissanite is often cheaper, but hard to distinguish from the real thing.
