Sep10

Hey, New Yorkers!

Looking for a great way to spend your Thursday evening? Just take a visit to the NARS counter at Saks Fifth Avenue from 6 p.m. onward to receive a rockstar makeover Marc Jacobs runway style!

Sure to be a great way to spend Fashion's Night Out and the kickoff to New York Fashion Week!

Don't Miss the Marc!

Aug03

In June, New York Magazine's The Cut reported on Marc Jacobs's upcoming back-to-school capsule collection, Don't Miss the Marc.

The line, intended to appeal to the younger set, is an adorable range of denim jeans, leopard print leggings, and cutesy t-shirts adorned with the mantra, "Don't Fret My Pet." And best of all, it's at an accessible price point!

All pieces in the collection are priced at under $200.

Sure, he may have had a different age group in mind, but I'm not opposed to not acting my age, and purchasing a piece or two!

Tell Me About it, Stud!

Mar25

While 80's punk bands helped to popularize the trend of adding studs to clothing and accessories, it's the fall 2009 runway that has aided in resurrecting it. Designers like Balmain, Alexander Wang, and Marc Jacobs have given voice to the resurgence of studded garments, inspiring mainstream stores to open their doors to the stud-loving public with a rebel yell.

And while some studded accessories carried by some stars (a la Mary-Kate Olsen) might be a bit out of your budget, or cause people to think you're a bit out of your mind, there are some more cost-efficient, and slightly more feminine alternatives. (Don't worry: you'll still feel like a modern day Joan Jett.)

Alexander McQueen for Target, $20

Revolve, $91

Heritage 1981, $33

Journeys, $50

TopShop.com, about $82

Devil in a Blue Jean Dress

Mar20

There is something about denim that I absolutely adore. Maybe it's because I'm simply stuck in the 80's. Whatever the case may be, I'm noticing a lot of denim this spring -- a staple mostly reserved for the summer -- and this time, it's taking a form in short, denim dresses.

Charlotte Ronson, $184

Charlotte Ronson's take on a denim dress is an ultra-feminine, uber sexy number with an empire waist and zipper on the back. (Zippers are also everywhere this season, aren't they?)

Marc by Marc Jacobs, $428

It's whimsical ballerina meets American pie in this ruffled, patchwork denim mini dress. With scoopneck and racerback detailing, this dress might take you all the way into July.

Forever 21, $23

When I first showed this dress to my boyfriend a few weeks back, he made some comment about an 80's hair band, or was it Annie Oakley? At any rate, it was love at first sight in this button down dress with smocked waist and side pockets.

Hometown Love

Dec17

With my upcoming move to The Big Apple fast approaching, it's good to know that there are elements of my hometown that I'm coming to appreciate. For instance, I just returned from enjoying a bike ride to the library in warm and sunny mid-December.

I'm quite fond of the quirky character of the brick roads downtown or the tiny shops off of Corrine Drive. What has delighted me even more these days are the little treasures I've been able to find.

Whilst perusing through a new art gallery store, I found these paintings of my favorite fraternal twins:

The description cards next to each painting said something to the effect of "I'm the cuter one," and "She's just my sister."

Later on, the boyfriend and I stumbled into a thrift store, when I happened upon this little devil:

Yes, it's Marc Jacobs, and yes, it's the real deal. $4.99! I can't beat that if I tried.

So even though I have to come to recognize the evils of a small city like mine, at least I've found something to reminisce about when I'm over a thousand miles away.
