Get the Look: Marion Cotillard at the 2010 Golden Globes

Jan18

I fell in love with Marion Cotillard's flawless look after I saw her in Nine. Her appearance at this year's Golden Globe's is no exception. To add some subtlety to her pompadour hairstyle, she opted for soft, pretty makeup. And her look is totally achievable.

Check out how to snag her Red Carpet look in a few easy steps with Smashbox:

Summertime Skin Saver: Smashbox's Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15

Jul20

In the summer, there's only one thing worse than applying a thick, goopy foundation before stepping out into the sweltering heat, and that is having that thick, goopy foundation start to melt and gather into pools on your face.

It's probably best to switch to a tinted moisturizer in the summer. But which one will offer a sheer coverage, with the right amount of color?

Enter Smashbox's Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15!

It makes for a smooth even application, and all-day protection. Plus, the SPF 15 makes for an added bonus.

Listen, there are some things you can skimp on. Your skin isn't one of them. This summer, ditch the foundation, and pick up a tube of this stuff. You'll undoubtedly be grateful...and so will your healthy, summer skin!

Get This Makeup Look Fast: Duffy

Jul19

Welsh singer/songwriter Duffy is known for more than just her airy vocals and mod style. She's also know for her classical beauty. And even though the songstress knows how to make her makeup look dramatic with bold black liner and mascara, Duffy keeps her makeup very simple, so as to achieve the perfect amount of pretty.

To get a look like Duffy's with only four products (after applying a base), it's all about the neutrals:

Indulge in Opulence: Too Faced Chocolate and Pearls Spring 2009 Collection

Feb02

The following is a guest post by the lovely Tiera of Beautery. I adore this girl, and her creative and witty take on cosmetics. She has decided to grace reLYME with her presence to tell you about a new ooh-la-la collection that's arrived just in time for Valentine's Day. Enjoy!

No two items embody women quite like chocolate and pearls. I hear those two words (in a sultry Sean Connery voice, of course) and I just float away to my "Breakfast at Tiffany's" fantasy land, where the boys are gentlemen, the drinks are free, and the luxurious cosmetics don't cost me an arm and a leg!

Too Faced has made a little piece of this dream a reality with their latest collection, Chocolate & Pearls, which includes vampy pinks and browns with a touch of luxury and lots of flavor. This Spring 2009 release features rich color and hints of chocolate and pearls throughout.

Here's a peek at the new collection, available now online at Too Faced and at Nordstrom, Sephora, Ulta, and other locations:

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil

Too Faced Luster Liner

Too Faced Girls Dig Pearls

Too Faced Lockdown

Too Faced Pinpoint

Here are the details of the line:

  • Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer in Matte Bronze (chocolate scented)
  • Luster Liner Lip Liners in Ayoka (beige), Tahitian (pale pink), South Sea (pinkish purple), and Caspian (golden plum)
  • Girls Dig Pearls Lip Gloss in Shell (pink), Tropical Pink (pinky purple), Mermaid (pinky beige), Pink Bling (pinky white)
  • Lockdown Cream Shadow in Jailbait (light pink), Bedroom Eyes (medium brown), Bondage (light brown), I’m Guilty (aqua blue), Dramarama (dark brown), Prisoner of Love (pink)
  • Lash Injection Pinpoint Mascara in Hot Chocolate (brown)

While my moods lately haven't been very much in favor of mega shimmer and shine, I can't deny the appeal of Chocolate & Pearls. I cannot wait to get my hands on the Lockdown Cream Shadows, which come in a wider range of colors than the rest of the products in this collection. Apparently they're a water-resistant combination of metallic pigments and Too Faced Shadow Insurance (one of my favorites, and a best-seller!). I've yet to test the pigmentation, but at the very least they're sure to be color-infused eye shadow bases for my oily lids (and maybe stiff competition for my beloved MAC Paint Pots).

I also wouldn't mind giving Lash Injection Pinpoint Mascara a try. I've tried the original Lash Injection, but the applicator wand is just way too big for me! Hopefully this waterproof liner and its sleek brush will fare better!

If you're looking for a collection with a little more variety (and a primer I'm dying to try), check out Smashbox's Muse Spring 2009 Collection. Or for Spring 2009 on the go, take a look at Beauty Addict, Too Faced's new 15-piece palette inspired by the upcoming move Confessions of a Shopaholic.

Bring Out Your Inner Muse: Smashbox's Muse Spring 2009 Collection

Jan27

Every spring, after the trees shaken off the remnants of snow (I never see this being a Floridian and all), something amazing happens. Yes, everything becomes wonderful and sunshine-y again. But, it's more than that. New fashion and beauty collections are released. This spring, there is something I'm so excited about, I think I might just spill over!

Smashbox's Muse Spring 2009 collection makes my heart sing. I love Smashbox. That's no secret. But this collection looks like so much fun, and it is very wearable. The colors are very sheer and simple, PERFECT for spring. And, as always, it's cruelty free!

The whole concept behind the collection is centered around one's muse. To emphasize this, the packaging is reminiscent of an artist's supplies. The eyeshadows and eyeshadow brush look like a paintbrush and palette, and the cream eyeliners (yes, cream!) look like charcoal pencils. And, you guessed it, lip glosses resemble tubes of paint.

Here's a a look at the new collection, available now:

Personally, I'm most excited about the Hybrid 2 in 1 Luminizing Primer. After a dull winter, my skin could definitely use a visual pick-me-up. The cream liners are exciting, too. (I haven't tried these yet!) This collection is a must-have, and I plan to get my hands on the whole lot soon.

Smashbox Thinks Outside the Box

Jan06

Once upon a visit to Sephora, I happened upon a new product guaranteed to make my lips more plump and pink. I was intrigued, to say the least. You see, if there's one thing this reLYME girl knows, it's limp plumpers.

I've tried them all. And though my pout is plump enough, I simply can't get enough. That's why when I saw Smashbox's new O-Glow Intuitive Lip Plumper, I had my doubts. In this department, I've already separated the men from the boys, and decided that some of the plumpers in drugstores far outweighed some department store brands. How could Smashbox produce anything better?

Boy, was I wrong!

Created in the vein of Smashbox's best-selling product, O-Glow Intuitive Cheek Color, this perfect little limp plumper, goes on clear and gives your little lippies just hint of tingle that packs enough punch to enhance your lips' fullness. That's not even the best part.

The ingredients, like Goji Berrry-C Complex and pomegranate seed antioxidants, work with your body's chemistry to give your lips just the right shade of pink. Intuitive, no?

It was love at first sample! I didn't end up buying it this time, although I was tempted, but I most definitely plan to purchase it very soon. Ah-mazing!

Have you used this stuff? What is your reaction to it or other lip plumpers?
